STAND EDUCATION

STAND EDUCATION

Iddi Platform performs clearing and thinning work by quickly mobilizing its teams on all types of terrain.

Pruning • Mixed pre-commercial thinning • Cleared 5-year-old plantation • Cleared hybrid poplars

Stand education works are silvicultural treatments aimed at selecting and separating the young trees of the future from their less promising neighbors which are detrimental to their growth. The result is a more vigorous and good quality forest, whose diameter growth is much faster.

Iddi Platform carries out clearing, cleaning and pre-commercial thinning activities on several thousand hectares per year and allows about a hundred silvicultural workers to participate in their own way in the growth of our beautiful forest.

Services available

  • Clearance of hybrid poplars
  • Clearing and maintenance of plantations
  • Wildlife thinning, skylight thinning, pre-commercial thinning
  • Pruning
  • Cleaning

When does the season start?

It all depends on the temperature. In general, the season begins around mid-May.

How does accommodation and food work?

Iddi Platform has complete forestry camps (kitchen, gasoline, parts, telephone, internet). Open 7 days out of 7.

You just have to bring the bedding (sheets, sleeping bag, pillow and toiletries).

The cost for accommodation and food is $55.00 per week.

What is the usual work schedule?

Work days usually begin around 6:00 a.m. and end around 4:00 p.m.

This therefore means waking up around 5 a.m., in order to eat breakfast, make your lunch and get to work.

**Breakfast and dinner times may vary depending on the forest camps.**

As the camps are open 7 days a week, working hours are flexible. Work shift 9 days / 5 days off, weekly (Monday to Friday), or variable at the choice of the worker. The schedule chosen must nevertheless be approved by the contract supervisor.

How much do we get paid?

You are paid by production, that is to say with the area (in hectares) treated during the week.

A sketch of your land as well as the price per hectare is given to you before starting the clearing.

How much do we get per hectare?

Everything depends :

  • The type of treatment (plantation clearance, pre-commercial thinning, hardwood cleaning, softwood modulated cleaning)
  • Number of stems per hectare
  • Slope and site access

How can you expect to make money in a day?

The average gain varies between $800 and $2000 per week depending on experience.

Several factors play a big role in your income:

  • Experience and working technique
  • Constant working hours
  • physical condition
  • The determination
  • work ethic

Do you have spare parts for sale at camp to repair my saw if it breaks?

We keep an inventory of major parts for STIHL brand brushcutters only.

In addition, we have “spair” saws on each contract to avoid too much loss of time in the event of a major breakage.

Possibility of financing for the purchase of a new brushcutter.

When do we get paid?

Every week for regular workers by bank deposit, paid on Thursday for the caisses and Friday for the banks. For incorporated, payments are made every two weeks.

Please expect a two (2) week wait at the start.

Example: Start of employment on May 13, 2019, the first deposit will be made on May 30.

When does the season end?

As a rule, towards the end of October. Depending on which sectors finish earlier, you will be asked to help finish other sectors.
